Allie K. Miller does the translation job better than almost anyone with her reach: taking what is genuinely possible this quarter and expressing it as something a non-technical executive can act on. She was Global Head of Machine Learning for Startups and Venture Capital at Amazon Web Services, and before that built AI product at IBM across computer vision and conversational systems.
She is founder and CEO of Open Machine, an advisory firm working on enterprise AI adoption, and an angel investor in machine learning startups (LinkedIn; her own site). She was named to TIME’s 100 most influential people in AI. She also founded The AI Pipeline, aimed at improving diversity in machine learning.
A caution worth stating, because it applies to the whole category she leads: audience size is a measure of distribution, not of implementation skill. The client list and follower counts on her site are self-reported and we have not audited them. What is checkable — the AWS and IBM roles, the TIME listing — is real, and her free material is a genuinely good starting point for a business that has not begun.
